Here are a few tips to make your photoshoot successful!

1. Don't assume I can 'fix it in Photoshop,' or 'photoshop that out.' If you find yourself saying that, take care of whatever it is before your session. The exception being breakouts. I got you on those. Extra photoshop edits mean extra time, which puts a major delay in my editing timeline for everyone.

2. Make sure your clothing is comfortable. Try on your outfits ahead of time and make sure you can sit on the ground in them. If your skirt/dress/pants are too short or tight to comfortably sit on the ground in, consider something else. We will do all sorts of poses, including standing, sitting, kneeling and squatting. If your clothes limit your ability to do any of those things, you will get less variety in your photos.

3. Wear appropriate undergarments. This probably applies more to the ladies, but a white dress with black undergarments isn't the best idea. Please make sure you can't see undergarments with whatever you're wearing. Make sure bra straps aren't visible. It's a huge, time consuming pain to edit them out.

4. Avoid spray tans or self-tanner before your session. I know it's tempting, really I do, but make sure you do it several days beforehand so those weird orange patches on your elbows, knees and fingers are gone. It can also make you look extra orange in photos, so give it several days to blend in.

5. Tan lines. Do what you need to do to avoid them before your session. If you have a bathing suit, or tank with crazy straps, don't wear it in the weeks leading up to your session. Sunglasses, hats, watches and work gloves can also make terrible tan lines, so wear good sunscreen. I can't edit out tan lines, so if you have them for your session, they're going to stay in your photos.

6. Avoid chipped nail polish. Remove it or repaint before your session.

7. Check out Pinterest or my website and have some example photos ready so I know what sort of vibe you're wanting.

8. If you're used to only seeing yourself in selfies or mirror flipped cell phone photos, have someone take some photos of you without that feature. My camera does not mirror flip images. It shows you how someone else sees you, not how you see yourself in the mirror. For some people, that can be a bit startling if they're not used to seeing themselves that way.

9. Comb your hair, brush your teeth, wash the sleep crusties out of your eyes. Please make sure your clothes aren't wrinkly!
